Rock/ mojo-blues and roots. Marshall Okell offers up a deep, raw, honest, dirty blues sound that grabs you by the throat and then soothes you with a sweet,
honey-tasting musical medicine.
With 3 albums released over 10 years, Marshall has spent the majority of his musical career on the road and his continuous string of live performances
have crafted him into a rousing, foot-stomping, mojo-bluesman like no other.
Former wayward frontman of 'Marshall and the Fro', Marshall Okell, returns in 2015 with a 4th album Sipping on Rocket Fuel, recorded in his home town of
Byron Bay, NSW.
2 years on from his 2013 album 'Birdy', Marshall has made a notable return to the music of his youth, combining his love for legendary artists Little Feat
and The Allman Brothers with his undisguisable Hendrix/ Woodstock sound.
Describing his recent time in the studio as a period of “Great, soulful, natural expression with no protection” Marshall's latest musical offering includes
tracks that have been up to 10 years in the making.
The first single 'Amsterdam' is due for release in September.
Born into a rock and roll arena and nourished as a child on the sounds of Hendrix and Winters, Marshall began his musical career at the age of 11. Now
in his 30's, Marshalls string of musical accolades includes 'Best Blues and Roots Artist' at the Oz Music Awards and regular appearances at festivals
including Bluesfest, Woodford and Falls.
His former band 'Marshall and the Fro' released two albums and an EP between 2005-10. The first self-titled full album in 2007, 'Marshall and the Fro',
set the stage for a new wave of pumping surf mojo roots and blues, including the hugely popular tracks 'Get Up' and 'Thongs'. The second album 'Friends
for Life' followed suit in 2010 and began a distribution deal with 'Only Blues Music'. The band experienced 5 solid years of touring, multiple awards,
regular airplay on JJJ and overseas release in Europe, Japan, Canada and the US.
Marshall's first solo album 'Birdy' was released in 2013 after a year of heartbreak, as he lost both his father and close friend and co-producer Brian
Now in 2015, having worked his way through no less than five tour vans, an unwavering dedication to the stage and what can only be described as some time
'off the rails', Marshall boasts a live crowd-following of epic proportions.
His current band of musicians hail from the same NSW North Coast and bring with them a blistering level of addictive, heart and mind altering musical energy
that leaves you crazy for more.
He has played alongside the likes of John Butler, Ben Harper, Wolfmother, Buddy Guy, The Cat Empire, Jeff Lang, Gomez and Xavier Rudd.
